I encouraged the community write down something positive you would say to your son, father, brother, uncle, friend, etc on a note and staple on the wall just to show the more positive phrases we can use rooted in love rather than the negative. The global community send me their insights via Instagram, Tumblr, and twitter and I added them on the wall along with those that were able to attend.

MAN UP

“MAN UP” is a series I created which highlights the negative phrases that men have heard growing up through words + images that have promoted patriarchy, minimized womxn, and created a community of men who have a false understanding of what a “real man” is supposed to be/not to be. 
This was launched in March of 2013 at the Whose World Is This Exhibition as an interactive installation.
